MEETING SPACES BETWEEN TEXTILES AND BODY UNDER CLOTHING

This project is my bachelor thesis at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering in Ljubljana, in the field of Textile and Clothing Design. It explores the hidden spaces formed between the human body and clothing, examining their spatial and sensory relationships. Through the deconstruction of second-hand jackets and shirts, the installation transforms garments into sculptural forms on metal structures, revealing unseen interactions between fabric and body. Light projections, shadows, and sound elements—such as heartbeat, breathing, and rustling textiles—create an immersive experience.

The project was first exhibited at the Ecomuseum Žalec, presented as described in the thesis, with projections and sound. It was later showcased at the Textile Biennale in Kranj 2021 in a different form, without them. Grounded in research on spatial perception and art installations, this work invites viewers to engage with the intimate, often unnoticed dimensions of clothing and its connection to the body.
